A handful of University of Hawai’i at Mānoa (UHM) student representatives, in league with the Honolulu Authority for Rapid Transportation (HART), attempt to pass senate resolution 07-13, which states that the entire UHM full-time undergraduate student body supports the highly controversial Honolulu Rail Transit Project. These student representatives did not ask the student body for their permission to pass such a measure, nor was there any opportunity for public comment prior to the tabling of the resolution. Kānaka Maoli students and the UH mokuna of Makawalu flood the senate hearing on resolution 07-13 to share their mana’o (thoughts/believes) on the issue and hold these representatives accountable for their misconduct and questionable actions. Makawalu thanks student senator and Makawalu member, Brandi “Elilo…” for making sure that the student body is well-informed of the issue. And never backing down! Hawai’inuiākea (School of Hawaiian Knowledge) was brilliant for voting her as their senator. Mai kaula’i wale i ka iwi o nā kūpuna.
