On the northwest corner of Maui, in Kapalua near Lahaina, hidden behind a golf resort and bordered by an ancient Hawaiian burial ground, there is this amazing rock formation where the last volcanic eruption’s lava flow met the crashing waves in full force. This is by the far end of it and doesn’t show all the really neat geological curiousities this elemental battle created. I was just recording the pretty waves at the base of the cliff when I was caught by one of their splashes.
