Secret Mommy – The Drink

Hawaii 5.0 EP Label: Ache Released: 2004 Who better to document the tropics then the absurd? Who better to spin tales of white beaches and exotic birds then he with little patience? He who will dislocate steel drums, slice pineapples, bend beach balls, and indiscriminately crush vacation time into sand. Secret Mommy has championed the art of never knowing when to stop. He has pushed the traditional summer soundtrack past its breaking point only to discover that once the slack key guitars are demolished he is able to reassemble them into something new. These five songs are summertime anthems. Not five in a list of a thousand, but the list itself sliced & stitched, cut & pasted, pushed & pulled into forms which are uncharacteristically personal. This is Andy Dixon’s third release under the Secret Mommy moniker, the first two being full lengths on San Francisco’s ORTHLORNG MUSORK. But on this, his newest EP, Mr. Mommy has culled the playful wit of his previous efforts and designed five narratives on separate aspects of Hawaii.
