Aloha! Abled Hawaii Artists (AHA)- Hawai’i Island 5th Annual Art Festival, is an annual festival celebrating the arts and disability in our community. AHA promotes disability awareness and pride by celebrating individual abilities rather than disabilities. This year’s event takes place at the Prince Kuhio Plaza on Saturday, July 21, 2012, 10am to 3pm, in Hilo. AHA is the largest celebration of the Americans with Disabilities Act in the state of Hawai’i and is a completely free, community event that brings together more than 400 participants for a day of music, performing arts, visual arts, healing arts, hands on demonstrations, and more. FREE! This year, we feature Performing Artists Lengthening Strides (PALS), a dance group made up of performing artists with and without disabilities. To support and create community building, we will be doing a flash mob! PALS will lead us on stage with “You Can’t Stop the Beat” from Hairspray. Masked dancers, puppets and the public will dance wherever they are in the mall, eventually making their way to the center gathering area. Make history with us at AHA 2012- Fabulous Flash Mob, the first of its kind in the Pacific Asia region! Mayor Kenoi, who proclaimed the day of last year’s event as “Abled Hawa’i Artists Day” in Hawai’i County, is scheduled do the same again this year and could be the first mayor to do a flash mob! We ask that anyone planning to participate contact us, so we can better plan out the entire event throughout the
