I was thinking about staying at a hotel in the town of Kona. Seems like there's the Royal Kona, Kona Seaside, King Kamehameha, and Uncle Billy's. Is that all?

Has anyone stayed at any of these? Just wondering which is the best. Thanks.

It's your lucky day. Because their are more than those 2 hotels that you are talking about. theirs the hapuna prince hotel, the hilton, Kona Seaside, Kona Coast resorts, sheraton, Waikoloa, Maunakea Beach Hotel, and lot's more.

I believe that Viv was asking about hotels in the TOWN of Kona NOT just on the Kona side of the island.

Unfortunately, none of the hotels in Kona Town are particularly nice. For the most part they're kind of old and run down. The Royal Kona is technically the nicest of the bunch, however they've had a serious water leakage issue for years and the last two times I stayed there the mold smell in the rooms was very strong. Maybe they've fixed it by now I don't know. I'd check though before I stayed there.

If you're don't mind being just a couple miles south of Kona town there's the Outrigger Keauhou and the Sheraton Keauhou. I've stayed at the Outrigger a couple of times and it's a pretty good value for the money. I've never stayed at the new Sheraton Keauhou. It was another hotel for years and then it was closed for several years. Then maybe 2-3 years ago Sheraton bought it and renovated it. It's supposed to be very nice now.

Cheryl is correct though...there are a lot of hotels on the Kona side of the Big Island. Besides the two I mentioned just south of town, there are several more high-end hotels 5-20 miles north of Kona town.

Plus there are tons of condos around if you don't need hotel ammenities--many are within walking distance of Kona town.

Good luck with your search!

I stayed at the Kona seaside and I hated it. It was horrible, it was old and the bed was hard. IT smelled like outside from the leakage of water. But I made due with it. Staying in Kona wouldn't be a great option. I would prefer to have stayed outside of Kona.
