I've heard the Princeville and the Hyatt are both nice but just wondering if there are any other place we should consider staying? We want to be somewhere nice. A good beach would be great too.

Aloha Ron,

Both of those hotels are very nice but they are both quite different. They are the two nicest hotels on Kauai.

The Princeville has more of a glamorous European decor (especially in the lobby). The rooms don't have lanais (balconys) though. It is a very very pretty area but it rains a lot there, especially in the winter. Personally I don't think I'd stay there in the winter since I don't want to get rained on every day! But it is a very nice hotel.

The Hyatt has a more tropical feel and has very nice rooms. To me it feels more like a "resort" than the Princeville does. The beach is not particularly good there though, but they do have an incredible "beach-like" pool area, complete with sand. The Hyatt Kauai is a pretty luxurious experience if that's what you're looking for.

If you don't want to spend quite as much money as those 2 hotels charge then you may want to consider the Sheraton or the Marriott.

I liked the Hyatt better myself--especially the pool and the grounds.
