I just left Jack in the Box and was driving home from Waikiki Beach. I thought how lucky I am to live in Hawaii on this March day. Even the not so pretty area is nice. If you look to the left side you will see Waikiki highrises. I use to drive this street alot when I lived down on Diamond Head and when my nephew Matt lived there……good memories.
Big Country – In A Big Country
Big Country were a rock band from Dunfermline, Fife, Scotland, popular in the early to mid-1980s but still releasing material for a cult following. The band were notable for music heavily accented with traditional Scottish folk and martial music styles, as well as for playing and engineering their guitar sound to resemble the bagpipes, fiddles and other traditional folk instruments. The album “The Crossing” was a hit in the United States, powered by “In a Big Country”, their only US Top 40 hit single. The song featured heavily engineered guitar playing, strongly reminiscent of bagpipes. IN HARM’S WAY – Captain Torrey John Wayne meets son Brandon De Wilde
In Harm’s Way is a 1965 American epic war film produced and directed by Otto Preminger and starring John Wayne, Kirk Douglas, Patricia Neal, Tom Tryon, Paula Prentiss, Stanley Holloway, Burgess Meredith, Brandon De Wilde, Jill Haworth, Dana Andrews, and Henry Fonda. It was the last black-and-white World War II epic and the last black-and-white John Wayne film. It received a mixed response over the years as a war story that had a simple story but not a complex one or a great one, a charge leveled against Preminger’s later movies, starting with this one. The screenplay was written by Wendell Mayes based on the novel Harm’s Way by James Bassett. The film recounts the lives of several US naval officers and their wives or lovers while based in Hawaii as the US involvement in World War II begins. The title of the film comes from a quote from American Revolutionary naval hero John Paul Jones: “I wish to have no connection with any ship that does not sail fast, for I intend to go in harm’s way.” en.wikipedia.org
