Once upon a time, in 1973, childhood buddies, David John (DJ) Pratt and Carl James Malani Bilyeu auditioned at the Rainbow Villa for the newest popular duo, C & K. Cecilio & Kapono encouraged them to put a band together. Malani was performing solo at the Oar House in Hawaii Kai and DJ was downstairs at Chuck’s in Sunlight with Kirk Thompson. They got together in DJ’s grandfather’s garage with Bryant Mackey Feary, who was another solo act, at the Oar House. They wrote a few songs, rehearsed and there was a discussion about the meaning of Kalapana.

Kanani Goes to Hawaii- A Full Travel Vlog of Our Stay in O’ahu!
***PLEASE READ*** This video is mostly the Lu’au lengthwise, and you could skip to 26:06 if you don’t want this video being a half hour. Kanani and Lizzie got to Hawaii! While in O’ahu, they visit the Pearl Harbor SS Missouri, go boogie boarding, try shave ice (yes, it is different than a snow cone or italian ice), go Paddle Boarding, attend Paradise Cove lu’au, and go snorkeling! Notes about our trip: – This actually took place a couple weeks ago, but my computer was broken so I couldn’t finish editing it right away -I had to edit 1 HOUR of footage. But, a lot of this video’s length is due to the Lu’au. You could always skip ahead of that (I provide the time to skip to) -Those “noisemaker-things” that the dancers shook in their hands are called “U’li U’ili Gourds.” Look familiar? They come with Kanani’s Lu’au Outfit! -Paddle Boarding is fun for the entire family! Anyone can do it, and you could also kneel if standing isn’t comfortable (my mom did that) -“Aloha” means “Hello,” “Goodbye,” and “Love” -“Mahalo” means “Thank you” -“Ohana” means “Family” (for all you Lilo and Stitch fans out there! Comment “OHANA” if you have read this far!) -We stayed in Waikiki at the Hilton Hawaiian Village: beautiful! There are shops and restaurants too, not just hotel buildings! -I also got to try “Poi,” a Hawaiian food that Kanani asks her cousin Rachel to try during her stay in Hawaii. Rachel doesn’t end up liking it. It’s not horrible in my opinion, it just doesn’t have much flavor …
Hawaii wedding video teaser , newlyweds with a fire dancer at their oahu reception
www.alohaislandweddings.com An email from the minister to the wedding couple …, Hello , Congratulations on your upcoming wedding! This must be a very exciting time in your lives. And Waimanalo is a beautiful setting for a Hawaii beach wedding. I am honored to be a part of your Special Day, and I will do everything I can to make your ceremony the best for you and for your guests. Although I am not fluent in Chinese, I can do the greeting, the vows, ring exchange, blessing, pronouncement and introduction in Chinese. I would like to send you, by snail-mail or fax, a copy of the vows ahead of time. I also have a Scriptural guest-reading in both English and Chinese which I can send; you could ask two of your guests to read these during the ceremony. The first thing I will need on Monday, December 19th is to see your marriage license. For information go to hawaii.gov/health If you need to get your license on the weekend (17th or 18th), I can give you further instructions. To confirm, your ceremony is scheduled for 12:30. Attached are two photos. Please tell me which outfit you prefer, and what your theme colors are. I’m looking forward to hearing from you again soon. Warmest aloha, Rev. Frank Mak
A Trip to Hawaii 7-2011
This is a collection of video I recorded in July of 2011, while I was on a trip to Oahu and the big island of Hawaii. I had a chance to visit many place on the two islands like the Polynesian Cultural Center, Pearl Harbor, Sea Life Park, Black Sand Beach, and more. I have edited down the video to create this segment. I hope you enjoy it as much as I had shooting it.
