I flew to the island of Molokai, it’s a Hawaiian island next to Oahu. The canoe race itself is across a huge ocean channel, and it took around 5 hours for these athletes to canoe from one island to the next. I was blown away by the fact that they didn’t stop at all, in the least bit. For each canoe racer, a motor boat had to follow next to them just to make sure they didn’t get lost in the ocean, and someone from the motor boat would have to jump in the ocean and throw the canoe racers a water bottle as they got thirsty, since they had no time to stop. The race was the World Champion solo canoe race, so people from all over the world came to be a part of it. It was an awesome experience to experience it all. As far as the technical details go It was all filmed on a Canon 5D Mark II.
