The 3-Star OHANA Islander Waikiki
is located in a prime location at the corner of Kalakaua Avenue and Lewers
Street. Only a block from the beach, the hotel offers
great value at unbelievably low prices. It is also located
in what will be one of the most happening spot in Waikiki
with the opening of the new Waikiki Beach Walk - a pedestrian-friendly
plaza, scheduled to open in late 2006.
Part of the family-owned upscale Outrigger Hotel chain,
the OHANA hotels offer guests accommodations that are
smaller and perhaps a block or two from the beach, but
always at great savings. Like the entire Outrigger &
OHANA chain, the hotel is well known for its excellent
staff that personifies what the word Aloha actually means.
All of the air conditioned rooms at the Islander offer
connecting rooms, which is perfect for families. There
are small balconies in most rooms and island décor is
featured throughout. Amenities include Cable TV, pay-for-view
movies, Nintendo, direct dial phones with voicemail and
dataport, mini refrigerator, coffee/tea maker with complimentary
coffee, alarm clock radio, hairdryer, in-room safe (fee)
and much more.
While there are no restaurants on site, the hotel is located
just a short distance from some great ones, including
the Cheesecake Factory, Tony Roma's, Cheeseburger in Paradise,
the Outrigger Reef's Shorebird Restaurant and Beach Bar,
where you can grill your own food and very close by, Nick's
Fishmarket, a popular high end
eatery.
Property amenities include a small fitness center, open
from 5 am to 11 pm, 24 hour self service business center,
coin operated laundry, 24 hour reception desk, luggage
storage, the hotel's Waikiki "Exclusively for You"
Bonus book with special offers from local merchants, hospitality
room and more.
The OHANA Islander Waikiki is clean, safe, has a great
location and is family friendly. If you are looking to
spend a great deal of time in your room, this might not
be the hotel for you. But if you want value for your money
and perhaps use some of the savings to explore the island of Oahu or check out some of the
fine dining that Honolulu is renowned for, then this is definitely the place for
you. The hotel gets very good reviews from guests and
has a large amount of return visitors.
Note:
The hotel is in the final stages of renovating their swimming
pool and sun deck, parking ramp, escalators and street-level
retail stores with the hotel making every effort to minimize
construction noise. The expected date of completion is
late September, 2006. Guests do have access to the pool
at the OHANA Waikiki Beachcomber, a short walk away, if
they do not wish to use the beach.
