What to do and Where to Stay in Hawaii part 1:Kona side of the Big Island
The big island, Hawaii has two major sides. The dry side is Kona and the wet is Hilo. There is a lot to do and see and a car rental is a good idea. Although the car rental agencies don’t want you to do this, the Saddle road through the center of the island is now paved and just not a problem to drive. Also, an ordinary car can make it up Mauna Kea to the observatories. Coming down you need to to use a low gear or you will over heat the breaks. If you like this video, checkout my underwater video of swimming with Manta Rays at night. This is a must do if you are every in Kona!

Dole Food Company, Inc. is an American-based agricultural multinational corporation headquartered in Westlake Village, California and is the leading grower and packer of such food items as bananas, pineapples (fresh and packaged), grapes, strawberries, and other fresh and frozen fruits. It is a leader in ready-to-eat packaged salads and other vegetables. Dole was founded in 1851 in Hawaiʻi as Hawaiian Pineapple Company by James Dole, who opened his first pineapple plantation in the central plateau of the Hawaiian island of Oʻahu. The Hawaiian Pineapple Company was later acquired by Castle & Cooke, and was renamed to Dole Food Company, Inc in 1991. Castle & Cooke Inc, a real estate company, was spun off in 1995; it is currently a separate company but is also owned by Murdock. Dole incorporates the Standard Fruit Company, which was acquired by Castle & Cooke between 1964 and 1968. It was then the US’s second largest producer and importer of bananas. Dole and Chiquita remain the top two US banana companies. Sanford Dole, the cousin of James Dole, was briefly president of the Republic of Hawaii in the years immediately following the overthrow of the …
