Peter Alexander in Memoriam 1926 – 2011 – Die Blume von Hawaii.wmv

This is a video I uploaded as a belated commemoration of one of my favorite operetta singers. He might not be an opera singer but the warmth of his voice and the affability of his singing allows him to stand his ground with the opera singers in Marszalek’s operettas. I never knew a pop singer could sing just as well as an opera singer can in his or her own game till I encountered. He brought another flesh-and-blood character with a human touch to the recordings Marszalek made with him, thus contributing to the golden standard they attained. If he sang operetta this well, one can only imagine how good he would have been if he had gone into opera. I apologize for the sloppiness with which this video must be due to the shortage of time I’m currently having but I hope this humble gesture of my admiration for such a great singer will satisfy his fans.
