Over 1600 museum-quality pieces have been carefully preserved and displayed so that the unique culture of Mauna Kea Beach Hotel will live on for generations to come.
The rooms are spacious and elegantly decorated, each with a large lanai. The amenities seem endless, including a flower lei greeting upon arrival, Japanese robes and slippers, mini-refrigerator, data port, hair dryer, vcr and much more. There are a variety of restaurants on the property and their Sunday Brunch is famous throughout the island. You can also try out the variety of restaurants at thier sister hotel, The Hapuna Prince, just down the beach.
There is so much to see and do at the Mauna Kea you can be busy all day playing tennis (13 courts), golf (two fabulous championship courses), snorkeling or almost any other activity you can think of. Or you can loll by one of the freshwater swimming pool, sit in the whirlpool, read a book, or stroll along the beautiful white sands of both Kauna'oa Bay and Hapuna Beach and look for seashells. The stars on the Kohala Coast are simply amazing, seeming so close you can almost touch them. Three nights a week a high powered telescope is set us for guests to view the planets and galaxies in the crystal clear air of Kohala.
Children haven't been forgotten in the large list of activities available at the hotel. They offer a great year-round Keiki's Club Program for ages 5 to 12 years. Age appropriate activities are designed to introduce keikis to Hawaiian crafts, art and music, as well as fun excursions. There are both half and full day sessions, at reasonable prices. And meanwhile, parents can be taking advantage of a round of golf together, or relaxing at the Mauna Kea Spa with a traditional Hawaiian Lomi Lomi massage.
