A noisy, unexplained shaking in the Puna area of Hawaii Island remains a mystery at this time, but it certainly has the area talking. A number of people in a triangular area between Seaview Estates, Leilani Estates, and Black Sand Beach Subdivision report hearing a thunder-like sound, or an explosion, and feeling the ground shake around 9 am on Wednesday. John Drummond, the acting administrator of the Hawaii County Civil Defense, says that the incident cannot be explained at this point in time. Drummond says that he spoke to operators of Puna Geothermal Venture, the USGS Hawaiian Volcano Observatory, and personnel on the ground… no one has an explanation. One theory being considered is some sort of sonic boom, although who or what could have produced such an effect is presently unknown. Mystery Booms: Could They Be Supernatural? 2012 HD
Life goes on in Clintonville — as does the search for the source of the mysterious noises. And Clintonville residents are speculating. The marquee outside of Calvary Apostolic Church reads, “God is shaking our city. Let’s have a revival!” So as some speculate and city leaders search, some residents say not knowing the cause has them on edge. “They had a test on the radio, or on the TV the other day and I was getting scrambled to grab the kids and go,” said Heather Fletcher, a mother of two. Fletcher says she has trouble sleeping at night, wondering what could happen to her, or her children. “I kind of don’t want to be here at all,” said Fletcher. “We’re still waiting for answers. I don’t know what to think?” City Administrator Lisa Kuss says reports of the booming from Tuesday night to Wednesday diminished compared to previous nights. There were only two major events from Tuesday night into Wednesday morning. One event happened at around 8 pm that fielded about 10 calls. A second event happened shortly before 5 am which brought about 25 calls. Kuss says most theories involving manmade causes have been ruled out. Tremors and Booms Spread To Montello 2012 HD
A big noise in the small town of Clintonville has turned into a mystery that’s gaining national attention. As of this morning there are no reports of booms or ground shaking, but over the last three days hundreds of residents have called 911 after hearing strong earth rattling booms. Last night people gathered for a town hall meeting at the high school to voice their concerns. Many are worried the unexplained tremors will only get worse. The city is renting seismic monitoring equipment, hoping to find the epicenter of the strange tremors. The equipment is set to arrive tomorrow. However, This may be just the beginning of the “booming mystery.” Strange sounds are also being reported about 80 miles away in Montello. Police there are also investigating the similar booms. Tuesday night officials received several reports of a loud noise around 5:30 am They checked to see if anyone was drilling or doing underground work but came back empty handed. Residents from Montello say they’re not crazy! In fact, they didn’t even hear about what’s going on in Clintonville until after they started doing some research online.
