Much like the Monkees is the late 1960’s, the Chipmunks and the Chimpettes have grown tired of their bubblegum image — wading through mindless drivel like Elvis in Blue Hawaii, singing other peoples songs. So, in the spring of 2012, The Chimpmunks ans the Chimpettes, now calling themselves simply munkChimp, broke ties with David Seville – who Simon refers to “Cournal Parker’s idiot brother — and began writing, recording, producing, engineering, and mastering their own material.
