A big noise in the small town of Clintonville has turned into a mystery that’s gaining national attention. As of this morning there are no reports of booms or ground shaking, but over the last three days hundreds of residents have called 911 after hearing strong earth rattling booms. Last night people gathered for a town hall meeting at the high school to voice their concerns. Many are worried the unexplained tremors will only get worse. The city is renting seismic monitoring equipment, hoping to find the epicenter of the strange tremors. The equipment is set to arrive tomorrow. However, This may be just the beginning of the “booming mystery.” Strange sounds are also being reported about 80 miles away in Montello. Police there are also investigating the similar booms. Tuesday night officials received several reports of a loud noise around 5:30 am They checked to see if anyone was drilling or doing underground work but came back empty handed. Residents from Montello say they’re not crazy! In fact, they didn’t even hear about what’s going on in Clintonville until after they started doing some research online.
