Kauai, Hawaii HD tour – “Shards from Heaven” by helicopter, raft, and kayak
Explore beautiful Kauai, Hawaii in HD by helicopter, ocean raft, and kayak. NEW! See my video on Kyoto, JAPAN in HD! www.youtube.com Filmed on the island of Kauai over 9 days. This video gives a brief tour of the island and its adventures and sights. I’d imagine it’d be interesting for people who want a quick overview of what Kauai is like. Photographs here www.flickrwire.com Scenes include the Napali Coast, the Kalalau trail, Hanakapi’ai Falls, the Waiahuakua sea cave, the open ceiling cave, Ho’olulu Sea Cave, the Wailua River, the Secret Waterfall, and Mount Waialeale crater (the wettest place on earth). For the shots, we went kayaking, boating on the Napali Coast for sea caves, and took a helicopter ride into the Waialaelae crater. It’s estimated as much as 75% of Kauai is inaccessible due to forests. Thanks to Napali Riders for the boat, Mauna Loa helicopters, and Wailua Kayak and Canoe. Filmed by Patrick Shyu, starring Henrick Shyu. Music by Garnet Crow. Recorded on a Canon S95, stabilized with Mercalli v2, edited in Premiere.
Canon 5D Mark 3 Low Light Exploration 12800 ISO – “Seattle” by Any Given Chance
I rented the Canon 5D Mark 3 to determine if upgrading (from the Mark 2) is a wise investment. I called upon a Director friend, Sam Campos, and said we need to film something at night to test the low light capabilities of the Mark 3. Sam invited a musician friend Zack Manzano, lead singer to the Hawaii based band Any Given Chance, and Reiko Pualani Campos to embark into filming a music video for our low light exploration. The result is the first cut to the music video “Seattle” by Any Given Chance. NOTE: In the beginning of the video where the talent is near the green and white motorcycle the scene was not lit and I used a 12800 ISO setting. To give you a look at what the scene looked like I took a photo with a iPhone 4S and uploaded it to the photo section here in the description. Also the last shot of the airplane flying in the end was also filmed at 12800 ISO and the detail you could see of the plane, plus you could even see diamond head in the distance. Sam and I both said that we could not see see diamond head with our own eyes at the time of the filming. MUSIC VIDEO DIRECTED BY: Sam Campos SHOT & CUT BY: Andrew Mostajo Magpoc FEATURING: Zack Manzano & Reiko Pualani Campos CAMERA: Canon 5D Mark 3 LENS: Zeiss 50mm 1.4 SETTINGS: CUSTOM Sharpness turned off. They all work at the Polynesian Cultural Center which is the number one tourist attraction in Hawaii. It’s like Disneyland, but Hawaii style, where guests learn and experience the full Polynesian culture. If you want more info on this place where you can see more fire knife dancers and other amazing things, check out the link below (ps no one is paying me to say this :)) www.polynesia.com I have below the three fire knife dancers I worked with, in the order that they appear in the video. They were all awesome to work with and I now consider all of them great friends. Malo Matau Maika Tuala Rockett Tenney My friend James Choi was the one who had a great help in making this all happen as well. He was the original contact for the fire knife dancers, and he got them all together and the fire knifes that we needed. Also my friend Nathan Smith helped setting up, and filming the other camera that was on the tripod, as well as James. As far as the technical details of this video go….. It was shot on …

Kualoa Adventure – Oahu Hawaii
We filmed all this at Kualoa Hawaii. www.kualoa.com Stephen Anderson wrote the score specifically for this video. You can download the song on iTunes in the link below 🙂 itunes.apple.com I’m on facebook and twitter FINALLY! 🙂 www.facebook.com twitter.com Going back to the location where we filmed this, it is actually my favorite place in all of Oahu Hawaii. Without question the most scenic. It’s also the main location in Oahu where Hollywood movies are filmed. Such movies as Jurassic Park, 50 First Dates, Godzilla, Wind talkers, Pearl Harbor Mighty Joe Young and even a great deal of the TV show LOST was filmed here. It’ also a huge tourist attraction where, as you can see, you can horseback ride, sail boat, 4 wheel, movie bus tours, jungle expedition, boat cruise, dinner, the list goes on 🙂 It really is honestly the most photogenic place in all of Oahu. And by the way, I’m not paid to say that 🙂 I actually did this video for free, there was no money involved. And I did it just because I love the location. The staff at Kualoa ranch were super awesome/helpful to work with when filming this, super accommodating, and they helped with what we needed to get the shots we wanted. I would for sure reccomend this place to ANY PHOTOGRAPHER, or anyone who wants an escape from the everyday world! I really think this place is one of Hawaii’s best kept secrets. It also has a super rich history, which you can also find out more about that on there website as well. www.kualoa.com …
