Most Touching Funeral at Sea ~ Beautiful Sendoff for a Maui Charter Captain

Approximately 50 local boats gathered in Lahaina Harbor off Maui at sunset to celebrate the life of Steve “Skillet” Lambert, a Charter fishing captain in Hawaii. Steve passed away February 16, 2012 The boats did a whirlpool after the service, and then a mother and calf whale did the most amazing show for the family of the deceased. One of the most beautiful things I have ever seen, so I uploaded the video completely unabridged. Watch the whales pay homage @ 28:28

HAWAII’S SUPERKIDS XV August 29, 1986 with Paul Venus

I was 15 years old when the CBS affiliate in Hawaii decided to do a story about me for their “Hawaii Superkids” program. Despite numerous appearances in front of the camera for my own cable television shows, I was incredibly nervous during the interview. This was the second television show to do a story on what was at the time, my unusual childhood. In 1986, long before YouTube, having your own television show visible to the public was reserved for broadcast and cable stations. Portable video cameras and video editing equipment was also very rare, especially on the Hawaiian island of Maui. Still, I already had 12 years of experience in television. Beginning at age 4, hosting a weekly after school kids show featuring Superman cartoons, old black and white Flash Gordon serials, Laurel and Hardy shows, Little Rascals and Three Stooges bits. The shows varied in name from “The Paul Venus Special” to “The Paul Venus Adventure Show”. The latter was a weekly taped show and aired on Wednesday nights. I also produced an occasional “Kids News” program which was written by me and hosted by my friend and classmate, Roy Yamada. As I grew, my interest in movies did too. In this episode of Hawaii Superkids, I’m speaking about one of my half hour TV shows called “Behind the Scenes”. It was about one of my favorite topics, feature films, both new and upcoming releases. I had personally contacted the various major studios around Hollywood and convinced them to send me clips and various

Maui Hawaii

We hope you enjoy this compilation of photos taken on the island of Maui in 1979, 1982, and 1986. Included are photos of the West Maui Mountains, a sugar cane burn, the Iao Valley and Needle, Kapalua, North Maui, Lahaina, the Pioneer Inn, the Banyan Tree, the Carthaginian, the Jodo Mission, Kaanapali, Hana and O’heo Gulch (AKA the 7 Sacred Pools), Haleakala, and rainbows and sunsets. Also included were a few shots from a sailing trip to Lanai. Molokai can also be seen in the distance in some shots. Pay close attention to the Iao Valley and the profile of John F. Kennedy in a rock formation. It’s a must see in the Iao Valley. Many of the pineapple fields photographed north of Kapalua, and in Lanai, are gone due to development. The pictures of Haleakala were taken by John’s mother using an antique box camera. Aloha! Please stop by and visit my blog: chriszimmer.blogspot.com
